My 5lb Pom Chi Mixture is causing severe food allergies. I spent an entire year trying to find foods that a) didn't cause allergic reactions, b) she could and did eat them. All of the foods that she can safely eat are in bite-sized sizes that she can't handle. I even follow the recipe. I actually broke my food processor trying to shred chunks of a famous prescription diet. When food is so sensible and dehydrated, one wonders how many nutrients it actually gets. Many products contain ingredients that make them itchy, scratchy, and watery. She didn't eat more than a few - she sniffed and left, and no matter how I persuaded her, they were an epic failure. I went nuts trying to find the right food when a friend recommended Nutrisca Salmon and Chickpeas. Nutrisca salmon and chickpeas were mostly successful. The size and density of the pellets are perfect for a little girl and she LOVES them so much I use them to teach treats. Watching my picky girl dance over her food is a lot of fun. She still has some mild allergic reactions that may be environmental, but with a minimal dose of antihistamine, she's as close to a 'normal' dog as I've seen. Her coat is healthy and shiny, her bald spots are filling in and she has eyelashes for the first time in her life! My only complaint is that I can't find this food locally, but Revane Prime makes it even easier - delivered right to my door. !
