If I could find pre-assembled solid wood CD racks I would buy them! I had absolutely no interest in assembling this device. There are decent instructions, but they were not fully understandable because of small illustrations. I took a few pictures to give you an idea of what is required. The two middle shelves are somewhat fixed while the rest are adjustable. If you need this DVD rack, you can adjust the height of the shelves, but you probably won't fit many DVDs in it. Be careful when nailing down the backs of the box after assembling the rest. Try to make sure the top of the device is supported by pillows or something to align it with the bottom of the device that sticks out from the rest. If you don't do this, you run the risk of the middle anchored shelf actually coming loose when you apply pressure through the nailing at the back! What a pain to fix this nonsense too! Overall the device looks good, but if I ever wanted to sell it, I doubt I'd get $10 for it.
