I got a new, smaller HTPC case and didn't want to bother with cramming lots of cables from the current PSU I was using into the case. So I looked for a modular power supply to get rid of extra cables. I also wanted the PSU to be very quiet as that is usually the goal of an HTPC. This Cooler Master seemed to meet both requirements perfectly. I didn't need a 600 watt model but couldn't find a smaller one (there was supposed to be a 500 watt model but I couldn't find it when I bought mine). I've never owned a Cooler Master power supply so I wasn't sure what to expect in terms of build quality, but I ordered it anyway. Wow what a surprise. This is a fantastic power supply! The build quality is excellent, it's completely silent and even includes pieces of rubber to dampen vibrations. The flat wiring on modular cables is interesting, not sure if it really helps to hide the wires or something better, but it also doesn't cause any problems so I'm ok with that. Just a note, the 24-pin and 8-pin main power connectors are not modular, they are hardwired to the case. Not that it matters as these aren't extra ports, everyone will be using them anyway. Apparently my HTPC setup is running fine: Core2 Quad 67002x2GB DDR2ATI 5450500GB HDD
