Review on Enhance Your Gaming Experience with the Blue Ocean Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver Wii Remote by Ben Robinson

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Cool idea, the battery is more than useless.

New Content: It's been a while since my last review. I no longer have the original packaging and it is probably too late to return it. As it turns out, the Wii Remote is Dr. Which only gives pleasure as long as it lasts. It's still a great prop/novelty for the reasons I've listed below. Now the battery doesn't hold a charge for more than half a day - especially when using the TV. The battery will likely drain instantly if you actually try to play the game. Although it is an exact copy, it is not a Wii Remote. It's a sonic screwdriver with buttons that don't do anything and a USB port that doesn't charge. I would no longer recommend this item. Old review: As an adult and a collector of lots of geeky things, I had to pick this up for my wife for her birthday (read: best birthday present ever). We mainly use our Wii for online TV these days, and for our purposes this remote control works just as well as any other. Pros: This is a great thing, but with some caveats. First, the sonic screwdriver looks beautiful. This is a great replica of the 11th Doctor's trusty door opener. The size is perfect for a doctor's screwdriver and it's not very heavy, making it extra comfortable to hold. My wife mentioned that she prefers it because of the form factor. It tracks well on screen, and all the buttons and accelerometers work just like they do on a standard Wii Mote. Cons: While it's lighter than the standard Wii Mote, it also feels less durable. The battery also doesn't last nearly as long as it probably should. We have non-original rechargeable batteries in other remotes and have used them quite a bit. While the batteries in our regular remotes last over a week with our normal usage patterns, the screwdriver remote only lasts a couple of days before needing a charge (and seems less likely to remind us when it's dead). It comes with a USB charger that plugs into the bottom and the batteries don't appear to be replaceable. I probably wouldn't recommend it to kids who abuse their toys or someone who might use it for general video gaming. However, due to the low price, this remote could be a cool piece to show off when the company shows up. One star deducted from the overall rating due to battery issues. Anyway, I'm very happy with the purchase.
