All the wet covers I've seen and used in the past completely cover the lamp with a glass lens ( often frosted or textured), resulting in a dim, diffused light regardless of the lamp used. But this fairing is unique in that it looks and functions the same as a regular ceiling fairing (the lamp is fully exposed), allowing you to use a variety of spotlights or headlight bulbs to get the full effect. The fairing is cleverly designed with a large rubber washer/seal. at the top, creating a watertight (and airtight) seal around the neck of the bulb. Therefore, while the underside of the lamp is fully exposed, the lamp base and socket remain dry and secure above the gasket. There is a gasket where the panel meets the ceiling and torsion springs hold the panel in place. Installation is relatively easy, although you'll need to detach the cartridge from the body of the can and attach it to the fairing (it's not difficult). ). I would recommend checking the height in your fixture before ordering as there are some special 'low profile' lenses for low ceilings that may be too short for this finish. Overall I am very happy with the design of this fairing and the build quality. . Highly recommended if you want better light control in bathrooms and showers.
