Review on FiiO FH3 Triple Drive HiFi Earphones: High Resolution, Bass Sound, High Fidelity for Smartphones/PC/Tablet by Michael Floyd

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Tips and sources can make a big difference. Clear enhanced bass, detailed and neutral mids/trebles.

(Update: I had some slight flexing in the driver when I adjusted them when they were fully in my ears, but nothing out of the ordinary or bothersome. After about 2.5 months after several hours of use every week flexes the driver is almost gone ) Everything seems to sound the same but I think it's a bit worn) More sensitive to peak selection than I've experienced before. Peak selection can range from excessive bass boost to more neutral bass/treble boost and in between. The tips provided don't get you very much in tune, but this is my experience with a few tips: -Spinfit 145: a little - too much bass (still clean but too much mids) / a little muffled highs - to neutral bass (all a little more lower bass) / neutral highs (not my preference, forget which peaks did, but tighter bore than Spintfit 145/KZ Starline, so less than 4-4.5mm.) - for extra low frequency gain and a small increase in high frequencies (peaks contained / shorter and wider). - KZ "Starline" tips (new version is actually soft/serviceable) could have given me my favorite setup: boosted bass but less mids than spinfits and a little boost in treble). The peaks don't seem to affect the mids/high-mids enough to account for due to the bass/treble adjustment. so affected. The upper mids can flare up a bit depending on the peak, but I have to pay attention to that in the worst case when comparing peaks. The way Fiio did the venting also aligns very well with the bass setup. The other internal vent kits listed below are very inconsistent in how the internal vents are blocked/unblocked. Some differences from my two best sources: (Shanling M2X / Fiio Q1 [not MK2]) Using with PC USB - Fiio Q1 Line Out or Shanling M2X - Fiio Q1 is the best sound I've found from them and I agree the more excellent reviews they have received. I don't normally use my Fiio Q1 since I got the Shanling M2X, but after trying them out of curiosity when I first got the FH3, I found that they sound better when powered by the Q1. When I fire them up from my Shanling M2X they lose their soundstage and sound a bit closed, everything loses some clarity, the bass loses some of its great speed and seems to pick up on a bit of a dirty mid-bass. it just sounds worse all around, soundstage, bass speed/detail, treble detail and energy. I can't say exactly why this happens, but the advantages of the Q1 are: much lower output impedance (0.3 ohms vs. 1.0 ohms) and slightly more power headroom (190 mW - 32 ohms vs. 106 mW - 32 ohms). The high gain of the Shanling M2X seems to alleviate the problem somewhat, but it's hard to tell as the difference is obvious when using the Fiio Q1 in A/B tests, but setting the M2X's high gain isn't obvious. I can order a balanced cable to see what happens with more M2X power. I see some reviews that are more negatively inclined once they've experienced what I'm getting from my Shanling M2X, to be honest it doesn't sound great but still good for the price. As for the Fiio Q1, I agree with the overwhelmingly positive reviews, I just can't stop listening to it. - Original review notes - less review, more just a few notes on what I was before I bought (UPDATE: Flex driver is almost non-existent after about 2.5 months of use for a few hours a week) 2.5 months later ( will be updated ), and my kit doesn't seem to have any bug issues to worry about. . a fairly moderate/normal flex in the drivers on either side (symmetry is probably a good thing), mostly only when I adjust them after they're already in and the vent is blocked on my ear, nothing particularly notable. I'm more used to headphones/earphones with V or U tuning like me and was concerned based on some reviews it would be too bright bass but it has just as much bass as others I'm used to (depending on the hand piece), like ZS10 pro, TRN v90, mh755, 1more triple. This appears to be due to the upper mids and highs not being boosted like my other kits, so I can adjust this setting a little wider. a bit small, I would call the largest nozzles medium or medium/large, 1 set with 9 nozzles supplied has a larger standard size (short, with a wide opening). Since the nozzle diameter is fairly typical, my narrowest and widest bore tips work well enough not to slip off.
