Review on Motormeters® Digital Back Light Meter Tachometer by Marcus Rash

I bought this product for a Craftman lawn tractor that did not come with an hour meter. I initially looked for a factory replacement, but the $60 price tag seemed a bit high for this feature. I ordered it because of the price and the positive reviews. InstallationInstallation was very easy. As you can see from the photos, I drilled a small (9/64 inch) hole where the factory hour meter popped out. (I didn't want to drill a hole in my new tractor's dashboard.) Routing the cable wasn't a big deal either. I used the existing wiring harness in the tractor and avoided the exhaust pipe next to the spark plug wire. I used the two included zip ties to secure the signal wire to the spark plug wire. The meter wire was long enough to be easily routed along the frame and still made the required 5 loops. I used the included Velcro to attach the unit to the tractor frame. It comes precut so you have to make it. Configuration This was also easy. I left all the default settings except for the maintenance reminder. I changed it from 20 hours to 25 hours. You can set this from 1 to 200 hours, so no problem. There are also a number of other configuration options: high RPM warning (similar to a red line indicator), total run time, run time (time per use), max RPM, and the ability to set the number of sparks per revolution (like I said). , I left mine at 1 spark per move). Specifications The backlight only turns on for 2 seconds, so don't worry about running out of battery (they also contain a battery, CR2032). I believe the curves are accurate. I didn't really need this feature, just the hour meter, that's an added benefit. Overall, I recommend this to anyone with a small engine who doesn't have an hour meter and needs it as a service reminder.
