Review on ๐Ÿ’ก Satechi 100W USB-C PD Wall Charger: High-Powered GaN Tech for MacBook Pro/Air, iPad Pro M1/Air (US) by Jennifer Wurz

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very good USB-C charger for laptop, tablet and phone, but it doesn't live up to the advertised capacity.

USB-C power adapters with Power Delivery (PD) over 65W when expensive, bulky and demanding when charging different devices. fast charges most laptops and devices and can also charge low-power devices. The Satechi 100W USB-C PD Wall Charger is also half the size of most 65W chargers while delivering more power. It provides enough power for charging. Lenovo which consumes 65W, MacBook Pro 13 and MacBook Pro 15 which can consume up to 87W. This adapter is as powerful and reliable as your laptop adapter replacement. But despite being rated at 100W (20V/5A), the Satechi 100W USB-C PD Wall Charger was unable to deliver more than 87.2W (20.4V/4.28A) for Dell XPS 17 to deliver that can charge up to 130W. I am using a 150W USB-C tester (30V/5.1A) and have verified that it outputs at least 126W. I use USB-C cables which I have tested up to 126W. Most laptops use 87W or less, so charging them with the Satechi 100W USB-C PD Wall Charger is no problem. If you have a gaming or content creation laptop with a dedicated GPU that requires 100W, that load may not be able to handle more than 87W. It also got a bit warm (57.4 ยฐC/135.32 ยฐF) with this performance. There are other 100W PD USB-C adapters that cost less and come with a USB-C PD cable. I would love the Satechi 100W. USB-C PD Wall Charger to provide a cable to avoid problems when using other USB-C cables.

Pros
  • Good value for money
Cons
  • Low repairability
