It works and the dashcam is powered on and data can be written to a flash drive, but I was hoping that the USB 3 port on top would provide USB 3 power from that port to connect a phone charging cable. It supplies power but not at the USB 3 limit as I came straight from the model 3 connector. So it still charges phones, but not at the same speed as straight from the Model 3's port. I plan to include some music files in another flash drive to plug in to play music in the car. I expect this to work very well as the dash cam can record to the currently plugged in flash drive.
