Tried to use this on my newborn. If he didn't kick, if he got away with wild legs, he'd just fall over when he tried to pick him up to put a diaper on him. It just doesn't remain reliable enough to rely on. Once he was even "pushed away" by a stream of urine. I'll say it's fairly absorbent (if it works), but it still gets wet on the outside. The product also warped slightly after one wash. The inside begins to unroll, destroying the "perfect cone". It still works in the new, flatter cone shape, but it's a bit off-putting and definitely ruins the aesthetic. if these things are important to you. In general, a napkin or rag is probably better. Now I use towels. It doesn't absorb as well, but contains AND stays safer and is a lot cheaper. A rag can have the same absorbency (materials appear to be similar).
