The bulbs are definitely as bright or brighter than the old incandescent bulbs they replaced and they also worked fine with the old pen style dimmer that powered them. Turning the light off, then off and back on usually fixed it, or even tapping the bulb. I wanted to make sure it was the bulb and not the socket so I swapped out two bulbs and the bulb was the problem. I replaced the blown bulb and have had no problems since. The problem with a blown bulb is that with just one failure, the hassle of making a claim just isn't worth the potential reward (I'm not interested in sitting on the bulb). phone back and forth just to have a replacement bulb shipped to me). That means I try to buy reliable lamps first. I'm sure the company would replace the bulb if I called or emailed them and I'm making this review based on that assumption.
