I ordered this bed for my dogs in a 48 inch wire metal box (typical type) and it says the product is a few inches smaller than the box but I assumed people would just like it too much was It would fit in the box and wouldn't be too big. I already have a "rest time" drawer and this bed FITS INSIDE my current bed if that gives you any idea. I'll be keeping this item as it's small enough to fit another drawer mat, it kind of makes up for the size difference, but I'm disappointed that it can't just be used to fit a typical drawer mat, it will let it be about 3 inches long and 3 inches wide.
