My previous Amazon ratchet strap only lasted 4 months. The leather was quite durable, but the buckle on the belt was so poorly made that it broke after a few months, rendering it an unusable piece of leather. As you can imagine, going beltless for a week with your pants hanging down was fun before this belt came along. The belt buckle is a completely different design from my last one and I'm sure it will hold up for a long time after wearing it every day for weeks. I ordered the size that fits me best, with a small cut. All I had to do was cut off a piece of the belt with scissors, then I put the cut end into the clasp and connected it with spikes. The only possible problem I see is that the leather can fray and pull away from the clasp, but even then I can trim it down a bit and reattach it to the clasp. I wanted a black belt with a silver buckle but ended up going for a black buckle and black belt just because it wasn't my size. It has plastic prongs so you can adjust it to fit your waist perfectly, rather than having to poke holes in it to get the perfect fit like most people do with a traditional belt. As someone who has worn many ratchet straps and found the biggest flaws in their design I think they will last a long time. The lever on most ratchet straps actually annoys me, I accidentally loosened the strap and had to re-tighten it countless times. So for me it was a pleasant surprise that there is no lever on my belt, you just have to lift the clasp to adjust the belt. In fact, I like it a lot more than the levers. The only downside I've found is that it squeaks a bit when in a certain position, but if I move the strap a bit it doesn't bother the squeak when walking. It was packaged so well for such a cheap belt and it was so easy to figure out I didn't even need an instruction manual. The buckle on my previous belt actually left marks on the leather which spoiled the look. So far, the buckle of this belt has not left any marks on the skin. If this is your first time buying a ratchet strap, you should know that they are much quicker and more adjustable than straps with holes. As someone who has tried many different ratchet straps I would highly recommend this one. 5/5 so far for excellent packaging, good shelf life and great design. Those 5 stars will change if the belt somehow breaks in less than a year, but I doubt anything other than minimal damage will be done to this belt.
