Review on πŸ‘Ÿ Viakix Women's Hiking Sandal - Comfortable Athletic Shoes for Women by Janice Wilson

Good hiking shoe for everyday use

I have a size 8, severe flat feet and posterior tibial tendonitis (PTT) in my right foot. My go-to shoe for the past five years has been the Ecco Yucatan sandals, they are great but expensive so I decided to try Viakix as an alternative. I didn't expect them to be that good but I hoped they would be good enough to last until I could afford another pair of my regular shoes. So far this has worked better than expected. No they are not as comfortable as my regular sandals but I would say they are 85% as comfortable. The bands allow me to make fine adjustments so not only my flat feet are comfortable but also the bandages I wear over them to treat PTT. It takes me a little longer to get them on comfortably as there are many places for the edge of the strap to snag and rub against me if I'm not careful. But when I need time to get it right, the straps always stay in place. This is a definite advantage over the Yucatan and also a more open design: I get in with the straps much easier, but it's also much easier for the edge of the strap to work freely and bother me. I live in the tropics and while I don't usually go out in the pouring rain, during the rainy season I'm often caught in a light downpour or have to navigate puddles. As long as the shoe holds up very well, I would say no worse than the Eccos. Visually I prefer my Eccos, but I have to admit that the Viakix look better as office attire. Luckily my company doesn't care, but I've worked in other places where the more durable looking Eccos weren't acceptable and so I had to endure a full day's work in much less comfortable shoes. But Viakix would be fine so I could be comfortable and conform to the dress code. Of course, the needs of each location are different, but if you want a good hiking sandal that looks more businesslike than a mountain hike, this might work. If money wasn't an issue and looks weren't an issue, I'd stick with the devil I know (Ekko). But for something better suited to my office or budget living, Viakix is the obvious choice. Luckily, this is one case where I can save a significant amount of money without sacrificing the same quality. The products are different, but close enough that I definitely got my money's worth with Viakix. I'll probably buy another pair in due course, but it may take a while - the sole is holding up well.
