Review on Osprey Packs Raptor Hydration Black by Brent Porter

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good lightweight backpack - not quite perfect

I used it for day hikes. The sizing is good and the shoulder straps are cut to distribute the weight properly so they don't sit directly on the shoulder pad. I filled my bladder and took two liter bottles of water with me along with food and extra clothing and everything was fine in terms of comfort. An arch in the back support provides breathability. The hipbelt pockets are roomy and a nice surprise in a hydration pack like this. For me there were two downsides. First, the hip belt doesn't provide support. Just to keep the thing from dangling when you've been mountain biking down a mountain I guess. So the burden is on your shoulders all the time. The worst problem for me was adding extra bottles. I used a couple of water bottles that fit perfectly in the two inner sleeves, but I had a hard time closing the pack with a full bladder. An extra inch of fabric on each side would fix that. I didn't get a star for that, but if you put two bottle sleeves on either side of the inside and don't close the bag, well that's weird. Still, it's a great bag and I'm very happy with it.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled
