Very happy with these headlights!

Long review but hopefully helpful. I have a 2012 F250 Lariat that had a blown passenger side headlight bulb. I've been looking at the new Sylvania halogen bulbs that were already in it but thought now would be a good time to switch to LED when I can find good bulbs for around the same price. I started learning everything I could about LEDs and found that there is a lot more to consider when making the switch to LEDs than I thought. It can be confusing and prices were everywhere. I tried to leave a lot of information both about these LEDs and about LED headlights in general in this review. We hope this information will help you if you are just starting to learn about LEDs for your car. Here are some of the things I learned before ordering. It is important to consider light temperature / color. Most halogens are in the 3500 to 4500 range, which is slightly yellowish. LEDs usually offer a choice in the temperature range from 4000 to 7000 and even higher. I've read that a sunny midday is around 5500K, so it's a good idea to shoot in the 5500-6000 range if you need white light. 6500 is at the top of the white before it turns blue, but it's still white. These LEDs appear white to me, I see no blue in them, and they are advertised as 6500. If you dial much more than 6500-7000 you may see blue. I've also read that you can actually lose visible light in the blue spectrum, so even higher lumen blue light can look dimmer than lower lumen white/yellow light. meant I should probably look for 2 or maybe 3 sided LEDs for my reflector style rather than 4 sided. If you have projection headlights, you may want to do some research to determine which LED is best for your headlight before simply ordering the ones you can find with good reviews. I also wanted the LEDs themselves to be roughly on the chip where my old lamp's filament hotspot was, so that the light hits the reflector in the same places as the old lamp. If I had picked the wrong option, I could have been one of those idiots who blind everyone by reflecting light into the eyes of oncoming drivers. This double sided LED reflects properly in my headlight when I rotate the LEDs left and right instead of up and down. FYI, this is where the set screw helps. If you install a light and the LEDs are pointing the wrong way, you can remove the set screw, rotate the "bulb" in the housing, and retighten the set screw. They installed correctly in my truck without messing around with a set screw, but made it look easy if I had to. I've read about possible problems with car computers telling you your headlights are off when they aren't. My truck doesn't have headlights that communicate with the computer, so I can't tell if they will work with these LEDs or not. If you have warning lights on your dash that let you know when a bulb has burned out, you should make sure these CAN bus LEDs work with your year, make and model of vehicle before ordering. Some have LED flickering due to performance differences between other things, but I can say I don't have that problem at all with this one. I have a bright light on all the time. The only time I see the flickers at all is when I crank the engine to start, they flash when the truck starts, but that's the only time I've seen anything other than a constant light. The LEDs need to be cooled or they will burn out. quickly. Different manufacturers use different cooling options, two of which I've seen are fans and heatsinks. You have fans. Some don't like fan cooling and some don't care, it doesn't bother me about my truck. The fan must be running to cool the light. So if the fan fails, the LED will most likely fail quickly. The fan is another point of failure, keep that in mind, but from what I've read the fans work pretty well. The fans on them have worked great for several months. Some people don't like the sound of the fans, but I only hear it after I turn off the engine, it runs for a few seconds to cool down. If you switch on the ignition without starting the engine, you can probably hear the fans running, but I don't find this disturbing in everyday use. I don't hear them at all when the engine is running but I have a diesel, not sure if the fans above the petrol engine are audible or not, although I doubt it. After all the research I decided if I could find a decent set of LEDs in the 5500-6500 color temperature range for less than $50 I would give it a try. They seemed like a good choice based on the reviews and all the other factors I was looking for, so I ordered them. I'm glad I did! Installation was as easy as installing any other light bulb. The LED fits snugly in the socket and the plug adapter connects properly to my wiring harness with one minor issue. The plug didn't snap into my harness, just slipped, but could also slip off easily. I attached zip ties to it to keep it from dangling. Apart from this small problem, the installation went very well. Before replacing the old bulb on the driver's side, I put some tape on the garage wall where the hot spot of the old bulb was visible along with the new LED bulb on the passenger side. In the first photo you can see the faint yellowish halogen and blue bands on the left and the bright white light on the right. The two new LEDs are installed in the second photo. I wanted to make sure these LEDs stayed pretty close to my original radiation pattern so I wouldn't blind people. After installation I turned it on and the radiation pattern was near perfect, landing right on the taped area on my wall. I was impressed by them first and then by the brightness, wow they are bright. I don't expect high beams to be used much but there is a noticeable difference between low beam and high beam, high beam shines higher and further as it should. After months of use and 5,000+ miles of towing a semi camper through 8 states, everything is still great, I have no complaints. I don't have any blinking from approaching cars and the LEDs work great, nice bright white light. Now I see a lot better at night, I feel a little calmer when I take my family with me. All in all a great price and in my opinion very good quality.
