I like this pin. It's a great size for the detail and makes a great accessory for both black and ivory/khaki steampunk outfits. Some have said the pin broke but I found it the same as any other brooch I own. I have a few vintage pins so I'm used to having something thinner than this. In the photo I have this pin clipped all the way around one end of my square neckerchief and secured with a simple tie knot. Hasn't moved all night; I could loosen or tighten it. It displays best when set to something thick. If you poke it through something thin, the octopus' weight will shift forward until its legs can rest on your body or clothing. At first I tried pinning it to the front of the lace skirt like a belt buckle, but the fabric was too thin and was looking at the floor. I had a chain with this suit but the chain was too thin to help. This works well with silk scarves because you can slide the knot underneath and would probably work well with heavier clothing or brocade too - like pinning it like a lapel on my brocade waistcoat.
