In-ear headphones like this one serve a wonderful purpose. They don't go in the ear canal at all, which is great if you want to hear street noise or hear your boss yell at you at work. They're better for listening to conversation than music, as the sound doesn't really have that much punch or depth. However, their low price makes them great backup phones. (I need at least three or four pairs!) Another thing I like about them is that they're pretty flat and flat. If you like falling asleep in them like me, they won't cause any discomfort in your ears when you turn over in your sleep.
