My Roxant Pro stabilizer arrived in the mail today. It showed up very quickly. I opted for the 5 day free shipping and it only showed up after 2 days so it was amazing. The build quality of the Roxant Pro feels extremely solid. The whole thing is made of metal. The only two plastic parts on the unit are two non-critical plastic turnbuckles, which can be replaced with a 5 cent wing nut if they ever break or get lost. I have used other hand stabilizers in the past that had critical parts that were impossible to replace. Thanks to Roxant for the user-friendly design. This model's black paint job and brushed aluminum finish make it look like a professional outfit. I'm actually planning to use it for a paid video shoot I'm doing this week. I used the Roxant stabilizer to balance my Canon Rebel t2i DSLR for video recording. I managed to balance it out with 50mm 1.8 and 18-55 lenses. As with all stabilizers, initial setup required additional time and effort. Eventually I found the optimal position for my counterweights and moved the handle to the forward position. I used 3 extra washers lying around to add some weight. The first time I played with it it took me about 20 minutes, now I can set it up in 20 seconds. I'm very impressed with the images I get, especially for such a cheap device. The shots really do look like they are gliding. You will never be able to walk or run with a DSLR camera and capture clear images without a stabilizer. This really is great budget do-it-yourself film gear. Basically, this is the first device you need when you want to record videos for the web. I see so many people on Youtube who would greatly improve their videos if they started using a stabilizer. The device is so compact that I can sit on the floor and take some really cool drop shots. This is not possible with a large stabilizer as many of the blocks protrude 2-3 feet below the camera. The Roxant's counterbalance arm only extends ten inches. This gimbal is significantly lighter than my Opteka which kills my hand after 5 minutes of use, not to mention the Roxant is a third of the price and works just as well. I've done a lot of research and I don't think there is a better portable gimbal than the $50 Roxant Pro. I'm going snowboarding next month and can't wait to attach my GoPro to it and snap some shots.
