patterns are very cool. However, at the tip of the chopsticks you eat with, the "handle" is just a decorative element. It's very smooth and I've tossed rice, noodles, chicken, beef, veggies, etc. with it more times than bamboo/wooden chopsticks. I still like them because they are dishwasher safe and easy to hand wash. Also, I like their weight because I get the sense of control needed due to the poor grip of the tips I use to pick up food.
