Review on Olivarrier Comfort Barrier Unscented Sensitive by Michelle Pope

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Not bad, but almost identical products have better value.

This is an absolutely superb product. If you've used a glycerin-based moisturizer before, you know what to expect. The ingredients are gentle, the finish is silkier or even almost matte - it's not wet or greasy and feels occlusive rather than "moisturizing". I only use these glycerin based moisturizers after oiling when my skin needs hydration. some extra moisture or before an oil-based mineral sunscreen. I have found that I get pimples from using them alone and they just give my skin a dull tint which I don't think looks healthy. To me, Comfort Barrier Cream looks, feels, and works almost identical to Ordinary's The Natural Moisturizing Factors+HA, with very similar ingredients and goals. The main difference is that this product has a very faint camphor-like medicinal odor (whereas NMF is completely odorless) and Olivarrier Comfort Barrier Cream feels a little lighter (like it has a little more water). Considering that 3+ ounces of NMF + HA is less than $8, I can't justify buying this product back - that's half the price of the product for triple the price. However, $24 is generally a bargain for a good moisturizer. I only deducted one star as Olivarrier has no control over the prices or ingredients of other products and I probably would have been happy with the price and features if I hadn't known about the natural moisturizing factors. I don't think this product is groundbreaking, wouldn't use it without the water based essence/serum and oil underneath, but it's simple and works for what it's supposed to. The packaging is also ideal for travel.
