Review on Olympus Stylus 850SW 8MP Digital Camera With 3X Optical Zoom (Yellow) by Mufti Carter

I bought this camera for a vacation so I wouldn't have to worry about it getting wet at the beach (I was always afraid that my "good" Sony camera gets wet). I am very happy with its performance. I already had a few xD cards from an old Olympus camera and was able to get a 1G card from WalMart pretty cheaply so don't worry about having a card. After reading some negative reviews about this camera not being truly waterproof I decided to use a card to take 'dry' photos and then switch the card to 'wet' photos to avoid losing all my shots when the camera decides to stop working. The camera has a neat setting (not the default, so check the manual) where photos are sequentially numbered as they're taken, even if you switch cards (instead of starting over). This helps you keep your photos in chronological order after downloading them to your computer, even if you switch cards several times a day. I took some underwater photos in the pool which turned out really nice. I was very satisfied as it was the first time I had a waterproof camera. At the beach I was still wary of using it under salt water, but I used it to photograph swimmers above the surface. A few hours after shooting the underwater pool, I returned to my hotel room and removed the battery to charge it. it was wet! There were water droplets both in the battery compartment and on the battery itself! I dried everything thoroughly and left the tray open overnight to air dry. It was still working the next day, but I was very scared because of the flooding. So check immediately after the camera has been underwater to make sure there are no leaks. My battery was wet all day and I didn't know it. I've used it for several days since then, but not underwater. I just hope this doesn't affect future performance. Read other battery reviews. You have to be careful how you paste it. It also displays a low battery indicator even when the battery is freshly charged. Just turn it off and on again and the battery indicator will turn green again. I had the same problem with my old Olympus camera. Battery life isn't too bad. I only had to charge it once in 6 days. Apparently you need an Olumpus M+ 1G card or higher to get a long video. It's worth it. I like making videos. My biggest issue with this camera is that you have to double tap the button before the video starts recording. I only have to press it once on another camera. I missed some good actions because I didn't double click. In general, I am very satisfied with the picture quality. The quality of a photo depends in many ways on the skills of the photographer as well as the resolution setting. Don't blame this camera if your photos appear blurry or dark. What I like most about this camera is the cheerful yellow color. Ideal for a beach holiday.
