I bought this case specifically because my friend is constantly on the road and going through swamps, deserts, etc. for work. I have the toughest case on the market. He stepped into the water which was deeper than he thought and the phone was covered in water for about 5 seconds. There was water in the suitcase and it took forever to pull the suitcase out to dry it. Despite putting the phone in rice right away, it didn't even turn on after two days. I was under the impression that this case would protect his phone, but instead he probably damaged the phone by leaving water in the case. Not worth the money. I have a regular iPhone rubber case and it protected it from small drops. If it gets wet in the rain, I can easily dry my phone without worrying about leaving water anywhere. If Otterbox isn't going to do anything more, I don't know why we trusted him as a savior and went through the trouble of taking the case off and on again and then still seriously damaging the phone. TL ;DR: Not sure if this is any better than your usual case. The case did not protect against brief immersion in water. When you get this case, don't count on it - you still need to treat your phone like a delicate and expensive item.
