Review on Sage Vacuum-Sealed Stainless Steel Thermal Water Bottle with Insulation for Optimal Heat Retention by Jill Lawrence

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nice looking bottle but the cap seems to be a design flaw

This is a great looking little insulated bottle. Its main purpose is to keep drinks warm and it does a great job of that. Ice can be stored for many hours without melting. We haven't used it for hot drinks yet, but it will probably work just as well. Before I complain about what I consider to be an imperfect design, I would like to say that the bottle is used regularly. My wife adopted it for everyday use and loves it very much. It's definitely still a 4 star article despite its big problem, which I'll explain. The problem is this: the lid function sucks. If you close it tightly it will do what it's supposed to do and prevent spills, but it's extremely difficult to get a good grip to twist to pull out. Not capping it too tightly will make it easier to open, but won't prevent spills if the bottle is knocked over. The lid, as you can see from the photos, is a round wooden cork but the design hides threads that twist. There is a rubber loop on top of the lid. It's comfortable to hold the bottle but not stiff at all so opening the bottle isn't any easier. For me, form should come before function. Looks great, but unfortunately without function. So is it recommended or not? Well it's nice, the insulation works and it's a handy size unless you're looking for something that will last all day (depending on how much you drink). The price is also fair for such a beautiful drinking bottle. But working with a lid is a chore. It's small and quite difficult to open when tightly closed. Whether you should buy this or not depends on how frustrating it is for you.
