So much money has been spent on fans over the past few years. All kinds of fans: box fans, spinners, ceiling fans, weird window fans from China with incomprehensible controls (no offense China! I love you but you know how it is). Box fans rust after a year (salty air on the Pacific coast) and only blow straight ahead. It's great when you get them first and then get old and loud. Spinning fans but we have high ceilings where the heat just festers and you chill for 2 seconds as you melt and wait for the spin to come back. Ceiling fans are nice, but they're only available in certain locations. So I did this multi-year experiment, throwing some money down the drain and constantly getting annoyed with the cheap products I mostly bought. And then this. So happy with it - actually moving all the air all the time - not very noisy (compared to what I'm used to). The remote...yes...is pretty cheap, but we won't be using it anyway, and it wasn't a selling point for us. Another thing that needs batteries. It works adequately - about what you'd expect - within sight - not too far away, but it works. I was convinced by the reviews and took a chance - spent a little more money and now this is my brand. I also bought the most powerful Vornado fan for another area - and wasn't disappointed in the slightest. Great purchase(s)! I feel chilly as I write this - it's been a few months now.
