I am a size 16 with a 37 inch waist. I bought an XL but wish I had left it with an L to fit my dress tighter over the corset. The dress is a little roomy at the waist so this belt floats and moves rather than holding the dress in place. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to exchange it because the color is also an issue. I bought it in orange and it's a very red orange and not the bright orange in the photo. I love the quality of the belt! Even when stretched, there is no indication of white elastic, and the buckle of the belt is metal, not plastic.
