Compact, roomy but unreliable

Took this bag on a week long trip to Washington DC The camera compartment is huge. I can carry a large DSLR along with a 70-300mm, 17-50mm f/2.8, 11-16mm f/2.8, and I have room for a small 35mm f/1 0.8 prime lens. I added extra padding to the bottom of the bag as that's where I kept the lens and didn't want it to bang when I lowered the bag. I think the design could use a little extra padding. It's also perfect for carry-on luggage and fits easily under a Southwest Airlines seat. in the course of the day. The top compartment isn't particularly large, but roomy enough to hold a small amount of extra gear or a backpack. The laptop compartment is quite small. If you have a small laptop or large tablet, you shouldn't have any problems. I put guides in during our trip. The most disappointing feature is the complete lack of security. The bag is clearly designed to carry hundreds or even thousands of dollars worth of photographic gear, but there are 3 compartments that you will probably want to secure but have no real way to do so. The zippers don't even have rings for any lock. If they had rings there would be no other part of the bag to even attach them to. Then I had to use two separate locks to block the 3 pockets that would be most advantageous to open. It's not uncommon for thieves to open bags in droves and carry away the contents, I definitely didn't want anyone walking around with a $500 lens. If they just add zippers with large locking holes and then provide a safe place to block them (or include two zippers that you can zip together) it will make a world of difference. None of this will stop a determined thief, but it can make an accidental escape with expensive camera gear much more difficult. Nice bag but could use some improvement.

Pros
  • Amazing
Cons
  • A few small things

A serviceable camera bag that won't break the bank, but nothing special
