A Compact and Sturdy Lightweight Suitcase

I was going on a sailing trip and we were warned that our cabin was tiny and to pack a suitcase or duffle bag that could be collapsed or folded and tucked out of the way. After some research, I selected the 22-inch Biaggi Luggage Zipsak. I just got back from my trip, and overall was really pleased with the suitcase. It unfolds easily and opens like a suitcase, making it easy to pack; it also holds a remarkable amount of stuff with a little judicious packing. I was even able to fit in my snorkel mask and fins. There are two straps inside to hold the contents in place, but I recommend using packing cubes; once you pack the suitcase, you have to stand it up on one end and things are going to slide around despite the straps. Using the cubes solved that problem, plus made packing and unpacking easy. The wheels rolled easily and even packed the suitcase was light enough for me to get into an airplane overhead bin. Plus once on board the ship, I was able to easily fold the suitcase into a very compact package and slide it under the bunk. The fabric and zippers are sturdy and of good quality. The only downside is the handles. There is no pull-out handle, just two top fabric handles (you can snap them together) and a shoulder strap. I am pretty petite, so rolling it around holding on to the top handles was easy for me, but I could see it being uncomfortable for a taller person. I also could pull the suitcase by the shoulder strap, which was more comfortable, but the suitcase was less stable and tended to fall over going up and down any incline (put worked fine on level ground). If you do not plan on using the shoulder strap, take it off and put it in one of the two nice outside pockets, because otherwise it can get caught underneath. Also, because there is no pull-out handle, you cannot put another bag on top of this one. I am not really sure that there would be a way to include a pull-out handle and still have the suitcase fold into such a nice, neat package, but the handles are the only issue I have with this design. Overall, I can recommend this suitcase--the handle issue was a tad frustrating, but perfection is not always possible.

Pros
  • SPACIOUS: Includes two exterior zippered pockets and two interior mesh zippered pockets for added space and organization
Cons
  • May not be stable on uneven surfaces
