UPDATE (August 2021) I used these monitors while playing bass for a church set and ran a line through an Ampeg SVT to an X32 mixer. Here are my updated impressions. I think they're great as in-ear headphones for use on stage, especially for musicians in the rhythm section (bass, drums, possibly guitar). The bass and mids of these headphones make it easy to lock them into a groove. The very manual and smooth highs ensure the cymbals never mix too harshly in my ear. My bass sounded very clear through the headphones with no noticeable distortion. I eventually reverted to the included silicone tips from 3rd party foam tips and they fit really well. Contrary to the name "BSinger" this is not my first choice for monitoring as a singer. I think it's more of a personal preference. These headphones have very flat mids, but for singing I would have liked a soft attack at 2kHz. In comparison, I use Audio Technica M30x headphones in my home studio and they have a smooth 2kHz kick which I prefer for singing. Other singers may not have any problems. The Fir Reference M30x headphones are very flat down to 1kHz, with a gentle boost at 2kHz, a big cutoff at 5kHz and another gentle boost at 10kHz. In comparison, that bass feels like smooth bass at 400Hz and below, very flat mids, and a smooth roll-off in the highs. While the bass is boosted somewhat, it's not as aggressive and punchy as headphones aimed at audiophiles. Audiophiles should look elsewhere for headphones with massive bass and treble. Original Review --------- These headphones are packaged very nicely, far beyond what I expected for the price. The kit includes everything you need: a regular TRS cable, a TRS cable with a built-in microphone for calls, FIVE pairs of ear tips, a lapel clip and a 1/4 adapter. It also comes with a carry case. Comfort: They feel great. With 5 pairs of ear tips, you're likely to find the right size for your ears. However, I did purchase an extra set of memory foam ear tips to use with these headphones. Sound: Bass is noticeable. High frequencies are clear but not harsh. What is remarkable is that these headphones sound a bit weaker in the 2-4 kHz range compared to my other headphones. As a result, the vocals lag a bit behind when listening to music in the mix. This frequency response makes the headphones sound great for listening to instrumental music, but I wouldn't be their first choice for vocal music. Usage: I think these headphones are best suited for professional stage monitoring. Good bass and mids make it easy to hear the instruments in the rhythm section, and if the vocals aren't enough, that's easily remedied with some EQ and equalization on the mixer. Overall this makes a big difference for the price and is great for performers on a budget.
