We used to have a thinner, rubberized TPU case, but we found it fitting for the way an adult uses a tablet. It's much easier for a child. It's bulkier and easier to hold whether you're using a pen or not. Also, it's almost impossible for it to slip out or for the young man to pull it out, even if he tries to do it on purpose. Finally, I would like to add that the built-in kickstand is much more stable than the old case and is good for watching videos or whatever. The only downside is that it doesn't fit in the charging cradle, which we have for phones and tablets, but you kind of know you're stepping in there. In general I highly recommend it.
