I connected my TV out to my stereo receiver and wanted to boost the signal a bit so I bought this as it is advertised as an amplifier. I have to crank the volume up a lot more for the TV's audio output than other devices that plug into the stereo, and I didn't want to accidentally forget to turn it off before hearing another source and being blasted out of the room with that extremely loud noise. However, this device does not seem to amplify the signal and I still have the same situation as before. It seems that the tone only goes down, not up. Doesn't work for what I wanted to use it for. Continuing: The company contacted me and offered to send me a new device. I said ok as long as you think it will boost the signal. Received it shortly and both the original and the new one will boost the signal a bit and hopefully solve the problem I was trying to avoid. The gain isn't as great as one would like, but with such a variety of audio gear, don't expect all gear to be perfectly matched. So I give it a 5.
