These headphones are paired right out of the box. However, after the first use, I find it difficult to get them to mate at the same time. One will mate and the other will not. They then separate easily unless I'm very close to my phone, say within 1-2 feet. Any slight barrier between the headphones and my phone and they cut off (including my head). If I'm hearing correctly, I have to put my phone in my right pocket (or closer) or they turn off. This isn't my first pair of Bluetooth headphones; You have to work remotely. Overall I would not recommend these.
