Sturdy and safe on beds and furniture

I use two of these for wild cat shelters and am planning to add a third. The devices are solid and well made. Since my intended use is to provide warmth and shelter to wildlife in winter weather, I've made a few changes. First, I insulated the inside of each shelter with insulating Mylar bubble wrap, including a double layer for the floor. I sealed the seams with tape to keep drafts out. I then added straw (which keeps heat in and keeps mold out) for the cats to nest in; I also placed straw and styrofoam under each unit to create a layer of warmth to prevent drafts from below. Wild cats got used to it quite quickly and sleep in it all the time, both on winter nights and sometimes even during the day. During the coldest times, I've also used a "pet warmer," which is a gel pad that can be heated in the microwave and kept warm for 8 hours. These shelters, with a few extra precautions, provide security and warmth for wildlife. I highly recommend this model (and thanks for having a second door so animals can't get caught in prey that could potentially trap them inside).
