Sliding adjustment on the back of the belt won't stay in place

The belt is cute and goes perfectly with my shoes. Unfortunately, the slider adjustment at the back of the strap to keep it taut doesn't stay in place. Each time I pulled the slider on the back of the belt to tighten it, it would loosen up again. This annoys me as it is the only belt I took to go with my dress to an event I was attending. I've been playing around with it all day trying to tighten it to make it fit.
