Review on πŸ”Š Sony RDPX200IP: Bluetooth Wireless Speaker Dock (Discontinued) - Compatible with iPad/iPhone/iPod - 30-Pin Connector by Jeff Kersey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best Apple accessory I've ever bought.

I bought this from Revain in May 2013 for about $200. I love it. I first tested it at Target and compared it to some competing Bose models. I couldn't believe the sound. The Bose might have had more bass, but the sound was dirtier; Sony was clean and crisp. Sony also had a slimmer design and generally offered a nicer package for the money. I can't believe the current price. $80 is a steal. The sound is amazing; Good bass (there's a Megabass button that you can turn on or off depending on your preference), clean (not tinny at all), and the volume can be a lot louder than I'll ever need. I connect it to an avantree stereo receiver for my Vizio Smart TV (can also be connected with a regular audio cable). I also use it with my iPod nano 7, iPad mini 4 and iPhone 6s Plus. You need an adapter because the dock has original 30-pin connectors. With the exception of my iPod, I have to remove cases before docking my devices. The device is tilted to push the sound up and out. It needs to be connected to the network, so it's not a portable device to take outside the home or office. It is very light and can be easily moved around the house. I keep moving it around depending on where I want to use it. The power supply box connects to the connector I plug into the back of the unit. It may bother some people, but not me. All control buttons are located on the top of the device and you can use the remote control for more convenient access. When setting up, there is an app that you need to download from iTunes that makes it easy for you to sync with iTunes and also gives you an alarm clock app that you can use as well. You can also use the remote control to control your iPod, iPhone and iPad music library from track selection to volume. Bluetooth pairing is easy; Remember to press and hold the Bluetooth button (the indicator light will stop flashing and a beep will sound to indicate pairing is complete). I have a small apartment, but I literally walked in front of the house I live in to get mail and the signal didn't drop (about 70 feet from the device). You can also place your device (iPod, iPhone, or iPad) directly in the dock, press the iPod button, press "Play" on the remote control, and your device will start playing music from your iTunes library (even if your device locked and in sleep mode). And what I like the most is that it charges your devices. I use alarm clock apps and as we all know you need to charge your device while the app is in use as it drains your battery. I can't understand why they stopped production. They had to tweak it (change the 30th pin) and keep it in production. I think this is a great docking station and one of my favorite purchases over the last few years. Not even my stereo speakers give me such sound quality. And at the current price, you can't beat it. I have attached some photos of the remote control, dock and power adapter. Seriously, if you're looking for a fixed docking station without paying an exorbitant price, this is one of the best options I've found.
