Received this mouse this morning so can't comment on its durability; So I will update this review after 6 months of daily use. I ordered and received the purple mouse shown in the product photos. The actual shade of purple on the device I received is more pink, making it look more like an orchid or dark lilac. As the color is difficult to describe, I have included my own photos in the hope that you can see the color difference correctly. . The photos of the items provided by Revain include a photo of the packaging. Revain packs a small box in bubble wrap for added protection, which was sufficient in my case. The item arrived intact and the small box was intact, not crushed or otherwise compressed. I'm using Windows 8.1 Standard, which is also set up as SQL Server 2012. I had absolutely no problems with the wireless receiver and mouse, and they worked almost immediately, even with Windows automatically detecting and running the setup files. In fact, I didn't even have to reboot after unplugging the old wireless receiver and plugging in the new one. It was a really smooth and very easy process. I didn't have to do anything in terms of configuration for the mouse to work properly. It's a right-handed mouse, it has two buttons on the thumb side, a scroll wheel on top that pushes down and tilts to the left. just to the right and a small alternate function button that's in line with the scroll wheel and slightly behind it (see photo). The problem is that it is not possible to customize the functionality of these buttons since the software is not included. Windows 8.1 Standard offers the possibility to define the number of lines the page should scroll with the scroll wheel (default 6 lines) and the wheel tilt, horizontal scrolling in characters (default 20 characters). However, I found that the horizontal tilt wheel feature would not control this mouse to scroll sideways regardless of the setting. Pressing the scroll/tilt wheel to the right activates the same feature as fast page scrolling, which responds to vertical and horizontal mouse movements by rapidly scrolling up/down or left/right within the entire page. The cursor will change accordingly to reflect the direction of travel detected in this mode. The mouse uses two AAA batteries, which are NOT included. So make sure you have them when the mouse arrives or you'll have to wait to use them while you buy some. I am not sealed, three A batteries are required. I had a bit of trouble removing the battery door and it seems a bit fragile to me so be careful with that if you get into trouble too. Maybe it was just me, but I wanted to warn you just in case. I suggest using a small flathead screwdriver and gently inserting it into the notch (see my photo with the blue arrow). There's also a small compartment on the bottom of the mouse to stow the USB wireless receiver when not in use, as well as an on/off switch to conserve battery life. I really like both features! So given the price, features, color choices, and ease of use, I highly recommend this mouse. I think you will be very happy with it!
