If you want to make sure accidents that happen to your baby in the cradle don't affect the mattress, I highly recommend getting a waterproof mattress pad to put under the sheet, which is a great option. ! I like that it's soft, quiet (unlike some waterproof garments that make a loud rustling noise when you move it) and easy to wash (put in the wash and dry with no issues, although I used a gentle cycle just to be safe, but I think a regular one would work too.. And I love their two pack so you can put two mattress pads on the bed (first a mattress pad, then a sheet, then another mattress pad and another sheet) and just a sheet and a mattress pad remove when you get stuck dealing with clutter in the middle of the night or other awkward times, and no fuss or wasting time pulling on another sheet or mattress pad! ;)
