The locking system is disgusting! The technology went wrong.

I ordered this item for work (construction site) to replace a cheaper pair of the same brand. My older model was navy blue with white caps. I was very happy with them, except over time the white knee pads started cracking from the bottom up. After about three pairs I decided to upgrade the model/quality. I liked the digital camouflage of this model and was intrigued by the supposedly better locking system. My old pairs were velcro and elastic, which made me very happy and excited to try the supposedly better design. Damn I HATE that stupid locking system! First, my older pair NEVER fell apart. The only gripe was that every time you put it on it took 2 or 3 tries to find the right tightness. I assumed that with this supposedly better system you could find the right tension and keep it there. That all you had to do after that was just hook/unhook and that was it. boy was i wrong! First; Only the top band has stretch, which sucks. Secondly; the stupid bending system NEVER stays where you set it. You have to repeat it several times a day! WTF! Think of an adjustable buckle system on a backpack that always slips. This is supposed to be the best system. My two suggestions to the manufacturer to ACTUALLY make this "better" system are: 1) make BOTH straps elastic; and 2) add a true Velcro closure system to the straps so it stays in place once you find the right fit/tightness. (Not that silly little Velcro loop that just keeps the strap from dangling but does nothing else.) Here. Einstein does not have to think about these two statements. So I hope you are not so stupid as not to implement them. Here's what I really like about them so far: the digital camouflage design, the comfort and durability of the kneecap. I think I could go back to the time tested for my next pair. cheaper simple design.

Pros
  • Alta Strapkeeper's unique system to protect extra straps from hanging around
Cons
  • boring packaging
