expensive! And for some reason I'm on a quest for the perfect razor, that happens about every 17 years or so, like cicadas.?! Anyway, I've tried three Raors this summer and this one is by far my favorite. I honestly don't think other reviewers are using this properly to get a scrape, cut or razor burn (they may also have sensitive skin, which I don't, so their mileage will vary). When women shave, we tend to start low and work our way up, which doesn't work here: start low if you must, but use short strokes and *scrub* if you want to. Lay the entire head of the cartridge flat on the surface of the skin and, without lifting the razor, pull it up, then almost immediately push down. Up, down, up down and so on. It's up to you to decide what pressure to use, this depends on the stiffness of your hair I think, but too light (like fluttering) requires more strokes on the same surface and yes: it will likely give you razor burn. . Too much and I think you can draw some blood *and* get burned at the same time. There are two hydration strips at the top and bottom of the cartridge. It's important to keep them dry between uses or they will swell and become slimy and ruin the blades. *Note: Dear razor industry, while we're all aware of the pink tax sadly levied on personal care products sold to women, I'd personally applaud one simple, woman-specific detail if you're over-selling that much: a razor stand with each razor . EVERY RAZOR. I mean, I know that some men shave in the shower, but all women shave in the shower, so it's a good idea to store this very expensive device in a convenient, dry place between uses so the blades don't get shaved rust or slip off. Please think about it. Either way, I love this razor more than I've ever lived with any other razor. It's easy to use, cuts shaving time drastically, and makes me want to shave every time I shower. I like it with HARRY'S Aloe Shaving Gel, helps a little, there's only one thing that annoys me about this stuff and that's the cost. Over $13 for 3 cartridges - when can I find them! Here or Walmart or neither, but I don't drive so I'm at the mercy of the internet and have yet to find them cheaper anywhere.
