I bought this thermometer for my baby almost two years ago after deciding not to try the old fashioned rectal thermometer method on a baby. As a family, we have benefited so much from this thermometer because adults can also use it on themselves quickly and conveniently. I've had no trouble getting accurate readings, although there's a slight learning curve to getting used to sliding across the forehead to the temple. It seems perfect for both left and right handers as we have one in our family. I also believe it will be a good thermometer for the elderly as it is easy to read on the screen and large enough to be held in the fist compared to some smaller thermometers that require exceptional fine motor skills. I like how the thermometer stores data. previous results and how it beeps when it's ready to scan so you know you're getting accurate readings. It also has a backlit screen. So if you take the temperature while the baby is sleeping, you don't have to turn on the light, which is a great asset for parents with a sick baby. This thermometer has been running for almost two years now and I always have confidence in the temperature readings as Exergen is well known for the quality and accuracy of the results. I would highly recommend this thermometer to new parents or anyone who wants to take temperature quickly and accurately.
