Good budget light! VERY bright

This is a good budget light. Very bright and look great. I installed two on the front bumper of my C11 race beetle. They haven't been race tested yet, but they've done about 200 miles off-road with no problems. I plan on launching some of these this summer, so I'll be updating them over time. While these guys use a lot of amps, it goes without saying if you're running 32-5W emitters (each). My standard VW alternator works with it without any problems. I didn't use the relay because I want to avoid the relay altogether. I used 10ga wire and put it through a good 15A toggle switch. Let's see if it holds up after extensive testing. I didn't like the cheap fence hardware that came with the light so I replaced them with good flanged hardware with lock nuts. I made special ledges - these are heavy lanterns, so remember the mounts need to be strong. There is a company that sells pre-made 3 hole reeds for these bulbs but I don't have a link. I would definitely use all 3 holes when installing these lights instead of just using a small tab with a hole. A washboard road will break these lights if you don't (ask me how I know). Overall I like these lights so far and would recommend them if you are on a budget.

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine
