Review on Sphero Mini: The Ultimate STEM Educational Toy For Kids - Drive, Game & Code With An App-Enabled Robot Ball by Stuart Dunn

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great value and great toy

I did a talk and demo for some 7yo girls about robotics. The girls name the Sphero Rovey (haha they were adorable) and I think it was very engaging. The app is very top notch and very conducive to learning how to program- there are stages suitable for a wide-range of kids’ ages and abilities. The actually robot is a little difficult to align (kind of like calibrate), so it’s repeatability on an obstacle course wasn’t super, but the girls loved it and didn’t notice.Great toy. So much fun. Great intro into STEM. Thank you!

Pros
  • The Sphero Mini can be programmed to follow different commands and behaviors, so children can explore different areas of robotics
Cons
  • May become repetitive quickly without new challenges or activities

My 7 year old son loved this! It’s so much more versatile than I thought it would be. Don’t be discouraged by the packaging or lack of instructions. Let a tech-savvy child download the app and they’ll figure it right out. So many cool things to do with it - you can drive it around in several different modes, and play a series of built in games, among several other things. It’s really very neat.
