Review on 🐾 Ferplast Atlas 20: The Perfect Cat and Dog Carrier for Pet Travel by Nikki Cooper

Revainrating 5 out of 5

You definitely need a large 20 pound carrier if you have an adult cat.

One thing I noticed while shopping was that the sizing was wrong and many wearers only have one photo for ALL sizes. There is a scaled down version of this which I bought almost by accident until I looked at the reviews so I give +1 to keep the info in the review comments at all times. tiny slip of a 7 lb cat. I wouldn't invest my $7 in a smaller version of this carrier. Atlas 20 is the size you need for any indoor cat over 6 months old. 10 is more like what you would use for a chinchilla or rabbit. Plus, it feels just as strong and durable as my old stretcher. The door is not your standard "trunk-locked" hinged metal door with a spring-loaded latch. The door rests on 4 rotating pins fixed in the upper and lower part of the holder. 4 rotating pins rotate to open slots in them. You turn the pins to open the slots, insert the door pins and turn the pins to "close" and your door is locked. You can open all 4 pins and remove the door entirely, or you can open just 2 of them and the door will rotate like any other carrying door. I don't consider this feature any less secure than a regular cat carrier. I don't expect this to be a problem for my cats and I have two ex-feral animals who would do anything to get out of the cat van and ride in the car. Easy to remove if you have a pet that likes to be carried. You can remove the door in 2 seconds and leave it as is without worrying about the hassle of disassembling/reassembling the drawer just to get the door out of the way.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Fairly ok
