Amazing Sound Tip - SiriusXM over Wi-Fi (with an active online account)

UPDATED - December 20, 2012 Good. I just discovered how to make this XP radio AMAZING with audio fidelity. First of all, you should know that there are mediocre speakers in this box that are ok. There is no getting around this fact (sorry XM, it's true). So IF you have really good COMPUTER SPEAKERS, you can transfer the sound from the radio to the speakers. SOUND IS GREAT! I'm not joking. I'm listening to Electric Area NOW (Trance Music - Channel 52) and my COMPUTER WORKS! So. if you can buy a simple cable (see below) from the radio to the computer. SOUND AMAZING! Good. So you need to make sure you have a GOOD computer stereo. This shouldn't be difficult for you heavy music lovers. I'm not going to go into detail about what makes a good computer speaker system, there is too much information out there. You must connect a cable from the LINE IN port on the computer to the HEADPHONE OUT on the XM Wi-Fi radio. . The required cable is a "Stereo Audio Duplication Mini-Jack" (amazon.com or Google). I used to think it could be done with the AUX (auxiliary) connector on the radio, but on the XM box, AUX is for IN only. TRAGICAL (Let me say the folks who programmed this radio are disabled because you can't unselect "AUX" from the menu as a command on the radio. Apparently I thought it was the exit. Psyche! Had to open Factory reset settings to get it working again. Come on guys at XMSerius! Pay for the best programmers!) You may need to tweak the sound software on your computer a bit, but it will work. My audio software is Realtek. Good luck and rock! Previous Post - Until December 20, 2012 This radio is the only one I've found that allows me to access my SiriusXM account from home without having to lug the radio around. between my car and my home. This requires the addition of SiriusXM online service, which is not that expensive. I've had the radio for about a month now and thought I'd share some of the pros and cons. ProsThe radio stays connected to the channel. You don't have to manually reacquire the channel every 10-30 minutes due to timeout rules (hosted by computer browsers). 10 buttons on the radio give you access to your favorite channels. Just hold down the button to program it to whatever channel it's on. Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection. It's good that I didn't have to lay any additional cables. and I can bring this radio into any room or even outside. It requires AC power (batteries will not drain). The sound isn't fantastic, but it's ok for news and talk radio. There is a connection for an external stereo speaker which I haven't tested but I'm sure it will improve the sound quality. The large digital clock stays on when the Rideo is powered off. Good time saver. CONS It takes 10 to 30 seconds to access a channel using the favorite buttons. .and 10% of the time it doesn't even access the channel with "network timed out". You need to restart the radio to fix WiFi issues. Programmed buttons are sometimes replaced with other random channels, but the display still shows your previous favorite channel. It gets annoying after a while. This happened to me twice in 1 month. Live audio sometimes skips every minute or two. A short pause of half a second, which is a bit annoying. FINAL THOUGHTS This SiriusXM Wi-Fi radio does what it says on the tin and for the most part I'm happy with it.
