Tried the Osprey for the first time and am very pleased. Very good design and high quality material. I used it mostly on days when I had to go to work (I work from home most of the time these days so it's more like 4-5 days of usage in the last 4-5 weeks). The fabric used seems to be very durable, it is a good and relatively thick nylon fabric. Because the fabric is covered with TPU, the backpack is waterproof and is said to be very durable in extreme weather conditions. We currently have no rain in San Diego so I can't really comment on the water resistance but it seems ok. The main feature that really works is the mesh back panel with ribbed foam which does a great job of water resistance. air flow and cool your back. Access to the main internal compartment is via an external zip placket, which is a little different than most other backpacks but totally convenient and efficient. Inside is a padded laptop compartment, another document compartment and two mesh pockets, as well as a dedicated water bottle pocket, which is new to me in a backpack. The padding on the straps isn't that thick, but the backpack isn't that big and can't get too heavy, so the padding is good enough. He also has a waist belt. It's not as thick but offers extra connectivity and makes the backpack more stable on your back. As additional features, beautiful and useful, there is also a flashing light mount and a button click. Feature made of high quality waterproof material which is great for daily wear. The size is a bit small for carry-on use unless used as a second piece of luggage when boarding a plane.) Highly recommend if you're looking for something that will stand up to rain or other extreme weather conditions.
