Bought in white before my family of four came to visit for a week but plan on putting my 18 month old son to sleep when he outgrows his crib. It was pretty easy to put together and my wife and I spent about 4 hours on it. He is generally very strong. I actually spent more on 3 mattresses than this bunk! The only bad thing is the screw heads are all over the place so I plan to cover them with wood putty and paint them white. You should probably get non-slip stair appliques as well as the color is nice and shiny/smooth. All in all a great buy for the price! PROS: clean lines, sturdy, easy to assemble, made from solid wood (no MDF or bad cork wood) CONS: screws everywhere, bed is awkward to handle and only fits 8" mattresses, max slippery stairs
