I use them for outdoor walks to ground myself. Since they cover both the front and back of the shoe and I have them on both shoes I am 100% grounded. They also hold up very well on shoes compared to those that fit just below the heel. When new they smell strongly of polyurethane. So if you are sensitive to chemicals, you can take them out of the packaging and leave them in your basement or garage for a few weeks or more before using them. Also, don't wear them outside when there's lightning or thunder, as you don't want to be grounded in those conditions. They were actually developed for industrial indoor use, not for outdoor use.
