I have had versions of this case for years and can attest that they hold up well, protect your device from minor drops and most importantly provide a tactile grip that gives your Device keeps falling out of shirt pocket or slipping out of hand. To be clear, it doesn't do anything directly to protect your screen, but as long as you don't smack something hard directly on the screen, it does the job. I have an iPod touch that has lasted almost 8 years with no damage from any of them. However, if you are protecting a device for a child, you may need something more powerful.
