This is a high quality children's play mat. The material feels comfortable and you can tell that it is sewn and sewn very well. I appreciate that it is not paper thin and has some thickness. However, I would still recommend using it on a rug, area rug, or over a spongy baby playmat. I don't recommend using this on a hard floor surface as the child will likely be more comfortable with the extra padding underneath, and also it doesn't have any non-slip material on it so it can be slippery. This is normal for babies, but once your little one starts walking or walking, she may slip. When your baby is a little older and no longer needs the tummy timer, it can also be used as a "rug" in the bedroom. Best of all, this rug is washable - you know it will get all sorts of milky burps or food stains over time. If you are looking for a quality play mat with good workmanship and nice fabric, check out this one. It's more expensive, but it will be one of those things your baby uses on a daily basis (tummy time, etc.). I recommend doing this as early as possible so you can get the most out of it.
