While I was very impressed with the quality and feel of this grip, I found it a little pricey as it doesn't compare to the less expensive buttonless versions. to send back a broken crank and eventually changed his mind after pushing the button. It works perfectly and is very smooth, but it toggles on and off with a single click, meaning it's not effective for focusing in picture mode. Just clicks. But it works well for starting/stopping videos, so it's great for that. For me, the effort isn't justified and I just cut out the first second of the frame when I reach for the built-in button. Also, it's cumbersome to wrap another wire around the camera just to make it run more efficiently. If my setup was all video I'd keep it, but for photography I'd like a half-press option.
